We have a team of dedicated healthcare professionals at Silverbirch Medical Practice dedicated to giving our patients the highest standard of medical care.
Dr

Mrs Emma Mawhinney, Physician Associate
Emma qualified as a Physician Associate (PA) in 2020 after graduating from the University of Ulster. Prior to training as a PA Emma worked as a Biomedical Scientist specialising in Microbiology at Antrim Hospital for more than 10 years. Emma is the practice lead for hypertension (high blood pressure).
Mr Stephen Ward, Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Mr Stephen Ward is our locum ANP working regular sessions in the practice.
Stephen originally trained and qualified in London where he worked for a number of years before returning to Northern Ireland.
Stephen is also our Mental Health Lead and Palliative Care Lead within the practice, providing review and follow up for patients patients with mental health problems and those receiving palliative or end of life care.
Practice Nurse
Mrs Roberta McVea is our Practice Nurse and runs clinics for Asthma, COPD and Diabetes. She also runs our Cardiac Event Monitoring and Sexual Health Screening services. Nurse McVea works on alternate Wednesdays and every Thursday.
Treatment Room Nurses
Sister Pearl McAllister runs our treatment room and childhood immunisation programme. Her clinics are on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. She offers a full range of treatment room services.
Nurse Jude Webb runs a cervical smear clinic on a Tuesday afternoon and helps out with other treatment room tasks when required.
Practice Pharmacist
Mrs Orla Price is our Practice pharmacist working every Tuesday and Wednesday and alternate Fridays. She runs clinics for Asthma and COPD as well as dealing with medication queries and a wide range of medication related issues. Prior to joining Silverbirch Orla worked as a Practice Pharmacist in Crossgar and in Community Pharmacy.
Midwife
Clinics are on a Thursday morning.
Health Visitor
Based at Bangor Health Centre and can be contacted there.
